The WHEI Hardcore Championship is a hardcore wrestling Championship created and promoted by War Hawks Entertainment Inc. on the SmackDown brand. It is one of 3 tertiary championships for WHEI's roster alongside the WHEI European Championship on the Raw brandand the LWL Global Internet Championship on the LWL brand. The current champion is Hangman Page who is in his first reign.

The title was originally retired in real life in 2002 during the intial brand split. However when said brand split was reintroduced and the cruiserweight title was brought to the Raw brand it was decided the other two brands needed another title to even things out.

Like its real life counter part the title has a "24/7" rule. This means that the title can change hands literally anywhere at anytime so long is a referee is present to count the fall. Unlike its counterparts, this title has yet to change brands since it was introduced back in season 2.

History Edit

When the brand split was reintroduced in real life and the cruiserweight title was brought to the Raw brand, thus bringing the number of titles on the brand to 5, it was decided the other two brands needed another title to even things out. Ironman initially considered bringing in the WWE United Kingdom Championship which had been being used on NXT at the time. However he chose this title instead due to his fondness for it. Ironman himself being a former 8 time Hardcore Champion in previous game.

When the title was brought back it was brought to the SmackDown brand with champion Bam Bam Bigelow as the final orignal champion Rob Van Dam was not in the game. While many wrestlers competed for the title and it had the "24/7" rule, the title has never changed brands in its 2 year existance as a War Hawks championship.

Championship belt design Edit

The title resembles a "Winged Eagle" WWE Championship belt that had been smashed to pieces and was being held together, barely, with duct tape. As such, you can still see the old block WWE logo at the top while the words "Hardcore Champion" are inscribed on the tape which covers the broken parts of the centerplate.

The side plates are the same as the Winged Eagle title belt but also smashed up to match the rest of the championship. They are also being held together by duct tape.
